We're Tessa-Marie, a Black Cocker Spaniel and Martin a blue Shih Tzu. We haven't known each other very long but when we met, it was magic! We come from very different backgrounds but that doesn't matter to us.....neither does the age difference. We became friends really fast. We're now together everyday. Here's a little about our backgrounds:
I'm Tessa-Marie and I came to Maine to live in September 2006. I flew from Iowa to Boston where my Mom came and picked me up. I wasn't just nervous, I was a panic stricken wild animal. They stuffed me in a carrier that was way too small for me and left me in there without food or water for 12 very long hours. I was terrified and it was a very upsetting day. It took me a very long time to calm down. I didn't know anything about a normal life. I didn't know what balls were for, how to play or how much fun it is to ride and stick my head out the window and make believe I'm flying! I especially like to do this in Aunt Valerie's truck 'coz I can stand on Mom's lap at the same time and I love Aunt Valerie!! Perfect!
I moved because my Mom found me on the internet. I was trapped in a puppy mill
When I moved here, my Mom had a job where I got to go to work with her everyday and play with people and eat good food. I really didn't know what play was so at first, I just sat and stared with my big brown eyes hanging out of their sockets and wondered what was going on! I had two friends I lived with and they were Ruby and Jake. They were Cockers just like me and we all went to work together. We went for long walks in the woods and to the lake to swim everyday in the Summer. I didn't like that very much. We were very close, I learned to be happier and they were my best friends. 2009 was a very sad year because both of my friends died and I had a very hard time with that. I mourned them and got really sad and depressed. I missed my friends more than my Mom realized.
Since then, I've been the unofficial dog at the library and made some new human friends. I'm a lot more social than I was but still hadn't made any new dog friends until Mr. Martini. I guess that's because I growl at one end and wag at the other and everybody misses the wagging part because the growling part is so noisy! Sometimes I sound like I mean it but I really don't. When I met my new friend Mr. Martini, we became friends very fast. I even share my food with him and he shares his toys with me....especially my favorite purple dinosaur squeaky, Dino! It's so nice to have someone to snuggle with and run in the fields with. Although I don't do much running anymore, I sure like the company! I'm much happier now that I have my little friend to do stuff with!
And here's Martin:
I'm Martin,even though silly Tessa calls me Mr. Martini! :) My story isn't as long because I'm not as old as she is ! :) I'm only 2. I'm still a baby and it shows! I'm busy and energetic. I go outside and run so fast my ears stick out and I can make believe I'm flying. I love to ride and I'm a ball dog! I'm very cute if I must say so myself! I'm called a blue Shih Tzu but I'm not really blue at all. That's pretty silly. A blue dog geez, those are for the cartoons! I have a very sweet nature and love to give kisses. I'm a caretaker and that's part of what Miss Tessa likes about me.I groom her all the time! I'm very loving and need to touch. I'm very different because I've never been abused. I can get so relaxed I'll turn to rubber and slide halfway off the sofa and just keep on sleeping even though my back legs are dangling in the air. I've had quite a few dog pals and a lot of love from my humans so I'm just a happy, playful boy!
